  • Loads on a bolted connection - effects and findings
  • Tightening and assembly processes - influences and processes
  • Securing bolt connections - meaning and findings

On the subject

The steadily increasing competitive market requires innovative ideas in order to secure or expand your own market position. Increasing demands for compliance with CO2-neutral processes are challenges in the conceptual design of bolted connections. In addition to improving the functional properties, saving costs and weight of components are the key to innovations in vehicle, machine, and plant construction. Costly failures that can be traced back to a damage of bolted connections occur time and again. Such damage can be avoided through the standard-compliant calculation - and through design measures.

The VDI 2230 guideline has established itself worldwide as the calculation basis for the selection and verification of the strength of screws and bolt connections. The conformity of connecting elements and bolted constructions is increasingly required not only by testing organizations, but also by customers and suppliers.

Objective

In this seminar you will learn how to systematically design and calculate highly stressed bolt connections according to the VDI 2230 guideline. You will get an overview of the load-bearing capacity, structural design and assembly of screw connections. In addition, you will learn more about the special features that must be considered in the design measures for optimizing bolted connections that are not directly covered by the directive. In the practical examples, your awareness will be sharpened to correctly evaluate the causes and consequences of an automatic loosening as well as the application and the limits of screw or bolt locks and to find an optimal solution.
