MDESIGN is the newest member of the VQWS (Association for Qualification and Knowledge Transfer in Fastening Technology e.V.). Founded in December 2021, the association has established a certification body that can certify specialists and trainers in bolting technology. This certification in bolting technology thus ensures the necessary transfer of knowledge between the trainer and their trainees. This certification represents an important step, as qualification programs in the field of fastening technology are still underrepresented compared to other joining processes. In welding technology, on the other hand, approximately 180,000 qualification programs are conducted annually, according to the DVS (German Association for Welding and Related Processes).

“Designing and documenting screw connections in the engineering process in a technically sound and cost-effective manner is part of product design. Only a reliable implementation during the assembly process ensures the properties that must be achieved for a market-ready and competitive product. Through our membership in the VWQS, which stands for certification, qualification, and knowledge transfer in fastening technology, we are able to facilitate the necessary interdisciplinary exchange for MDESIGN,” says Reinhard Blömer, Managing Director of MDESIGN , explaining the decision to participate in the working group going forward.

In addition, the VQWS has partnerships with the VDI and the Vogel Communications Group; the latter reaches professionals in the field of fastening technology through, for example, trade publications such as “Konstruktionspraxis” and events such as “SchraubTec.”
